Portrait photography is a language of moments, recorded through digital or chemical processes akin to magic. It is a language of rhythm and balance, time and affection. Off-camera lighting, arcane filters and hastily positioned reflectors were used to create this image of a moment far more beautiful than can be seen with the eye alone. In the dialect of the photograph, using only “natural”, available light is not always the most truthful path.
